Selwood Equine decided to launch the #greatthings series for 2020 in an attempt to get to know a rider and their team a little better, find out what they would be getting up to and what their plans would be for the forthcoming year. To follow them and engage with them across social platforms and showcase that grass roots rider within their disciplines. This is a collaborative venture and not sponsorship but a supporting role. We are really excited to see what we learn about our rider this year!
Well, i dont think any of us expected 2020 to go quite like this did we. What a start to the year and to the season. In such difficult times it is vital we keep positive and adhere to the government and NHS guidelines. We will however push on with our #greatthings series and today we launch to you our chosen rider for 2020 – Heidi Ford Eventing and her fab team. Heidi has been in touch and written her first blog for the website. Take a look below….
Heidi Ford Eventing
Hi I’m Heidi Ford and I event my 3 horses – Tess, Bimini & Gunner up to BE100. I am lucky enough to be the Selwood Equine #greatthings series winner! My favourite dish is Shepherds pie, I am a Bond fan, admit to being a chocolate lover and an absolute horse addict!
So… what do I do?
I’ve been riding since I was 3 – and have had numerous cheeky but talented ponies who have shaped my riding for the better (I hope!) over my 11 year career. From this very young age, I have always wanted to event. Always. Its been my dream since I was 4 to ride at the prestigious Badminton 5* and I am still holding onto that dream! I have been a member of British Eventing for over 3 years now and love it! Alongside this, I have always been a keen show jumper and have loved the speedy turns against the clock making me competitive in all spheres including my Pony Club – the VWH Hunt!
Results to date
Last year I qualified for the PC championships in the intermediate eventing & intermediate dressage (Gunner & Tess). I won three BE’s on Tess last season before topping it off with a Badminton Grassroots qualification whilst bettering our team & myself and having a lot of fun along the way! I recently won my first Elementary dressage test & ticked off my second 2020 aim only last month as Tess and I became the British Eventing 2020 JT90 champions jumping DC on our 26 style mark with Bimini close behind in 5th!
Aims
To top my first blog off I’d like to finish with a few of my aims which I hope to achieve with the following of you lovely lot. This year I’d love to be selected for the BE90uo18 champs, step up to BE Novice & up a level in SJ, do really well at Badminton Grassroots before qualifying again for 2021 & have another whirl of a year!
This is only the tip of the iceberg as I dream of competing at 5* one day! I hope you will enjoy following Team Ford this year . Finally, I hope you all stay safe through this Corona Virus outbreak ️- some of my aims may have changed now as events are cancelled or postponed but I thought you would all like to know what my plans were!
